Born in Winterthur in 1941, director Markus Imhoof has some of the most important productions in Swiss film history to his credit, most notably the Oscar-nominated feature film “Das Boot ist voll”. His numerous awards also include the Swiss Film Prize, the German Film Prize and the Silver Bear at the Berlinale. Markus Imhoof's work is characterized by contemporary social issues and a deep humanity. In “Das Boot ist voll” (1981), he takes a differentiated look at the dramatic consequences of Swiss refugee policy during the Second World War.
