Born in 1949 in Ciudad Real in La Mancha, Pedro Almodóvar needs no introduction. Having been educated by Franciscan monks, he split for Madrid at the age of sixteen, where he lived out his newfound freedoms as an underground artist of the "movida madrileña" after the fall of the Franco dictatorship. With his colorful melodramas and relationship comedies, Almodóvar has been the representative of Spanish cinema par excellence for forty years. He has been awarded the most important prizes in film: from the Oscar and the Golden Globe to the Golden Lion and numerous Goyas, Almodóvar has won everything. We offer a glimpse into his creative work and and hope you enjoy it.
