Music enthusiast Duncan (Chris O'Dowd) is pretty much obsessed with singer-songwriter Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke), who, after two decades, finally releases a new album with "Juliet, Naked". But when Duncan's girlfriend Annie (Rose Byrne) listens to the new songs first and on her own, she can't get much out of them, which makes Duncan furious. While he publishes a euphoric review on his fan website after listening to the album, Annie writes an article in which she scathes the record - whereupon Crowe finally contacts her personally.
