In the near future where emotions have become a threat, Gabrielle (Léa Seydoux) finally decides to purify her DNA in a machine that will immerse her in her past lives and rid her of any strong feelings. She then meets Louis (George MacKay) and feels a powerful connection, as if she had known him forever.

Memorable performances from Léa Seydoux and George MacKay and time travel through three eras, imbued with a deep, existential angst make "La bête" an engaging and offbeat sci-fi film. It shows that the greatest dangers lie not in the ecological crisis or the automation of life, but in the loss of the emotional core that makes us human.
