Six-year-old Cléo lives with her father in Paris. Since the death of her mother, Cape Verdean nanny Gloria has been looking after the lively girl. Cléo loves her dearly and finds protection and security in her arms. But when Gloria's mother passes, she returns home to look after her own children. The impending separation is very painful for both of them, so Gloria invites Cléo to Cape Verde for one last summer together. Although Cléo is Gloria's "little one", the girl must learn to understand that the world does not revolve around her alone.

From the producers of Celine Sciamma's "Petite Maman" and "Portrait of a Lady on Fire", "Àma Gloria" beautifully captures themes of family, separation and the bond between people through the eyes of its headstrong protagonist. Young Louise Mauroy-Panzani is a natural in front of the camera, expressing every facet of the childlike joy, sadness and courage that Cléo experiences as she grapples with the upsetting changes. Her captivating performance is at the heart of this deeply moving film. "Àma Gloria" premiered as the opening film of the Semaine de la Critique at the Cannes International Film Festival.
